If your Mac is overheating, you should check the CPU usage. You don’t need anyone to do it for you to keep on reading to know how to check the CPU load using Activity Monitor.

  • (Finder > Applications > Utilities)
  • Select the CPU tab.

You’ll see all the apps and processes listed here. You can find the most intensive to the least intensive app overloading CPU. To prevent your Mac from overheating just close the most intensive apps from here.

How To Check How Hot The CPU Is?

There are famous free tools in CleanMyMac which analyse CPU performance. Find out your Mac CPU temperature. The average CPU temperature should be between 45-66 degrees Celsius.

Macs comply with various temperature limits. But sometimes extreme heat climate may harm and cause overheating. Apple itself recommends using your Mac between 50°and 95°F (10°and 35°C) to keep it cool. Avoid direct sunlight. Using any laptop, computer, or even Mac can harm its machine.

Malware or virus is tricky to spot on a Mac, but they can hiddenly run a ton of intensive processes, which makes your Mac overheat. Check your Mac if you feel it’s been heating up for no reason because Browser hijackers and adware are common threats nowadays. Get rid of all viruses.

How To Fix Unresponsive Apps To Avoid Overheating?

Well, if an app is unresponsive, remember it is still consuming Mac’s memory. Your Mac allocates CPU resources to fix it. This can also lead to overheating the processor. Try to avoid or delete such applications.

Using your Mac in bed can also cause overheating. Placing your Mac onto a duvet/blanket or on a mattress can lead to overheating, and fans can clog. If the vents are clogged, the warm air of the system won’t pass out, which will lead to damage. Clean as you can to keep it cool and unclogged.

Dust can mess up with your Mac’s fans, and because of this, it can overheat.

  • You will have to remove the bottom panel
  • Pass the air into the vents of your Mac.

Using so many applications at once can make your Mac freeze and become stuck, which will put a burden on your processor and it will lead to overheating.
